About the Night & Running Order

Leave the smartphones in your pocket — on Friday 30th October, The Anchor hosts the inaugural Anchor Pen and Paper Quiz in The Galway Room (our Maroon and White small function room)!

In an era of app-based quizzes and screen-heavy bars, we’re keeping it strictly old-school: real paper answer sheets, biros on the tables, and a proper classic pub quiz atmosphere in our newly upholstered back room, ‘The Galway Room’.

Led from 7:00 PM by The Anchor’s own landlord Peter Connolly alongside Paul Beirne, it’s free entry for locals, regulars, and newcomers alike to test their trivia knowledge over pints and cobs.

Strictly Pen & Paper

No Phones!

No QR codes, no apps, and no sneaky under-the-table searching — just honest pub trivia, paper sheets, and biros.

Peter Connolly & Paul Beirne

Hosted live by The Anchor’s landlord Peter Connolly and Paul Beirne with rounds covering general knowledge, music, sport, and Birmingham lore.

The Galway Room

Small Function Room

Hosted in our newly decorated Maroon and White small function room — The Galway Room — with plenty of table space for teams.

Free Entry & Week Specials

From 7:00 PM

Free entry for all teams, plus our special Anchor × Shabab’s ‘Cheese & Onion Bhaji’ cob and Pumpkin Competition voting at the bar.
